🥔 Crispy Air Fryer Potato Slices
Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and easy to make.
Ingredients
- 3 medium potatoes
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: ½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Slice the potatoes: Wash and slice into thin, even rounds, about ⅛–¼ inch (3–6 mm) thick.
- Soak: Put the slices in cold water for 15–20 minutes. This helps remove surface starch and improves crispiness.
- Dry very well: Drain and thoroughly pat the potatoes dry with a clean towel. This step is important.
- Season: Toss with olive oil, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Preheat: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes, if your model recommends preheating.
- Arrange: Place the slices in a single layer, leaving some space between them. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry: Cook for 12–18 minutes, turning the slices halfway through. Thinner slices may finish sooner.
- Check for crispiness: Remove golden, crisp slices and give thicker ones another 2–3 minutes if needed.
🔥 For extra-crispy potatoes
- Don’t overcrowd the basket.
- Dry the potatoes thoroughly after soaking.
- Keep the slices similar in thickness so they cook evenly.
- Add a very light spray of oil if they look dry during cooking.
- Season with salt after cooking if you want maximum crispness.
Serve immediately with garlic yogurt, ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.
