How to Deep-Clean a Dirty Mop
Rinse the mop head thoroughly with warm water to remove loose dirt.
For a washable cotton/string mop, soak it in a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts warm water for about 2 hours.

Wash the removable mop head according to its care instructions, then rinse thoroughly.
Dry it completely in a well-ventilated place before storing it. Keeping a mop damp encourages unpleasant odors and microbial growth.

For microfiber pads, follow the manufacturer’s washing instructions rather than automatically using vinegar.
⚠️ Important
Never mix vinegar with bleach. The combination can release toxic chlorine gas. If you want to disinfect a mop, use an appropriate disinfectant separately and according to its label.
