How do you make chia water to lose up to 5 kilos per week?

If you’re referring to the popular chia-water weight-loss claim, there’s an important correction: chia water cannot make you lose 5 kg (11 lb) per week. That rate of weight loss is far beyond the usual recommended pace, and clinical evidence does not show that chia seeds produce rapid weight loss. In a randomized trial, 50 g of chia seeds daily for 12 weeks did not reduce body weight or body composition compared with placebo.

🥤 A sensible way to make chia water

  • 1 tablespoon (about 12–15 g) chia seeds
  • 250–300 ml water
  • Optional: squeeze of lemon for flavor

Method: Stir well, let it stand for about 10–15 minutes until the seeds form a gel, stir again, and drink.

Chia provides fiber and can be part of a healthy diet, but it isn’t a fat-burning drink. A 2024 systematic review found that evidence for chia’s effects on body-weight measures was inconsistent, while some cardiovascular effects were observed.

🎯 A safer weight-loss target

A more realistic goal for most people is roughly 0.5–1 kg (1–2 lb) per week, achieved through a sustainable calorie deficit, nutritious food and regular physical activity. CDC materials similarly describe gradual loss of about 1–2 pounds per week as a safe, sustainable approach.

If you’re trying to lose 5 kg, think in terms of several weeks rather than one week. Rapid changes on the scale can also represent water and glycogen rather than actual body-fat loss.
