“You Won’t Believe What 2 Minutes Can Do to Your Puffy Eyes…”
Woke up with puffy eyes and have somewhere to be?
Try this simple 2-minute cooling routine to temporarily reduce the appearance of puffiness.
🧊 Step 1: Cool the area
Take a clean, soft washcloth, dampen it with cool water, and gently place it over your closed eyes for about 1–2 minutes.
Don’t use ice directly on your skin—the delicate skin around your eyes can be easily irritated.
🛌 Step 2: Give your eyes a break
If you’ve been staring at a phone or computer, close your eyes and relax for a few minutes. Avoid rubbing them, which can make swelling and irritation worse.
💧 Step 3: Think about the cause
Morning puffiness can be related to fluid retention, lack of sleep, allergies, crying, or simply your normal anatomy.
For recurring puffiness, getting adequate sleep, managing allergies when appropriate, and avoiding rubbing your eyes may help.
⚠️ When puffiness shouldn’t be ignored
See a healthcare professional if swelling is persistent, severe, painful, affects only one eye unexpectedly, comes with vision changes, redness, discharge, or follows an injury.
🚨 Sudden swelling of the face or eyes accompanied by difficulty breathing, throat swelling, or trouble swallowing can be a medical emergency.
