How to remove the dark circle around the faucets

đźš° How to Remove the Dark Circle Around Faucets

That dark ring around a faucet is usually a combination of hard-water mineral deposits, soap residue, grime, or mildew. You can often remove it without harsh chemicals.

Easy method with white vinegar

You’ll need:

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • An old toothbrush or soft brush
  • Microfiber cloth
  1. Dry the area around the faucet.
  2. Soak a paper towel or cloth in white vinegar and place it around the dark ring.
  3. Leave it for 15–30 minutes to soften mineral deposits.
  4. Remove the cloth and gently scrub with a soft toothbrush.
  5. For stubborn residue, make a paste from baking soda and a little water, then gently scrub.
  6. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely with a microfiber cloth.

If it’s black or green

If the discoloration is actually mold/mildew or corrosion, vinegar may not completely solve the problem. Clean the area carefully and check whether water is continually collecting underneath the faucet. A leaking or poorly sealed faucet can cause the discoloration to return.

⚠️ Protect the finish

Don’t use abrasive powders, steel wool, or aggressive scrubbing on chrome, brushed nickel, brass, or specialty finishes. Never mix vinegar with bleach or other cleaning chemicals.

Tip: After cleaning, drying around the faucet regularly can prevent the dark ring from coming back.
